From Butler's Pantry to Kitchen

The kitchen - in the afternoon when guests arrive, it's usually a quiet, peaceful place, and tea and coffee sachets are on the counter next to the cookie jar. But early in the morning, it's a hub of activity and the source of delicious aromas wafting up the stairs, inviting the guests to a gourmet breakfast.

The Kitchen at Dreams

Life was a little different in 1901. The family probably ate most meals in the formal dining room. The meal was served by employees, and the kitchen was in the basement. Where the modern-day kitchen is, used to be a small butler's pantry.

In the 1970s the kitchen was remodeled.  The wall adjoining the dining room was moved, opening up the more spacious galley-style kitchen that is here today.

The nook in the kitchen provides a less-formal dining space, where one can chat with the cook (a.k.a. hostess) during breakfast.

Once a tiny butler's pantry, a 1970s renovation that moved a wall a few feet into the dining room opened up a nice galley-style kitchen.

This glass cabinet was built by owner Bonnie Maher's father Carl Pawelski as a place to display crystal and glassware used during breakfasts at Dreams of Yesteryear.
